The Critically Acclaimed Show Has Now Been Adapted for UK Secondary Schools
(London)—Broadway Licensing Global London, Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions are thrilled to announce that secondary school teachers can now sign up for a free perusal script of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Secondary School Edition. BLG London licenses the title throughout the United Kingdom and Europe.
This version of the beloved worldwide hit title is a special schools adaptation, based on an original story by J. K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne. The show is specifically tailored for secondary school theatre productions which makes the show easy to produce, regardless of budget size or production capabilities. The Secondary School Edition provides young actors with the opportunity to play Harry, Hermione, Ron, and some exciting new characters on their very own stage, to bring the wizarding world to life in their communities.
The show’s plot begins nineteen years after Harry, Ron, and Hermione saved the wizarding world. They’re back on a most extraordinary new adventure – this time, joined by a brave new generation that has only just arrived at the legendary Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. When Harry Potter’s head-strong son Albus befriends the son of his fiercest rival, Draco Malfoy, it sparks an unbelievable new journey for them all—with the power to change the past and future forever. Prepare for spectacular spells, a mind-blowing race through time, and an epic battle to stop mysterious forces, all while the future hangs in the balance.
BLG offers a selection of resources to assist teachers with staging the show, including guides to lighting, costume, directing, scenic design, and an illusions guide crafted by Jamie Harrison—the master magician behind the live show.
“We are thrilled to be offering teachers the chance to download a free perusal script of such a spectacular show,” says James Cawood, Director of Licensing at BLG’s UK office. “We can’t wait for even more schools to experience the magic of Harry Potter through this beautifully adapted production. As always, our UK office is on hand to answer any questions that educators may have.”
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the first Harry Potter story to be presented on stage, has been seen by over eleven million people worldwide and holds a record 60 major honours, with nine Laurence Olivier Awards including Best New Play and six Tony® Awards including Best New Play.
