Review by Astrid Finlay
This book is about a boy called Joe. He and his dad live in a mansion because they were very rich, and this meant that Joe had everything he always wanted – apart from a friend. But when he does make one friend, he realises that money isn’t everything. This book was good because it was really funny and says in a funny way that you have to be careful who your true friends are.
This book is also good because it gives all the names you shouldn’t have if you’re a teacher, for example, there is one called Peter Bread who is known by the children as Pitta Bread. It’s really funny.
I don’t think there is anything bad about this book as when I started it I couldn’t put it down.
My favourite character was Bob, Joe’s new friend, because at first he’s really rude but when they get to know each other Bob is really nice. I didn’t like Joe’s dad at first because he was too desperate to let Joe have a happy life but in the process made Joe more unhappy.
I would recommend this book as it is sad, funny and a good read for anyone with a good imagination.
