Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels changed the world when they released the pamphlet in 1848 which demanded the overthrow of the bourgeoisie in order to free the working classes. In his introduction, Roy McMillan claims the work is as important as Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species. This Naxos audio version, beautifully and authoritatively read by Charles Armstrong, brings to life the theories. It’s definitely worth investing in, although you may want to listen first with the book in front of you as Armstrong goes at a rattling pace! It’s still fascinating – and eminently relevant.
