Remember when Harvey Nichols opened its Leeds store, the first outside of London? It was a key moment for the so-called fashionistas of the day – shock horror – posh store moves north, whatever next?
Now, thankfully, moving events and institutions northwards is not a cause for national debate. So you might not yet have heard that in 2011 the Turner Prize exhibition will take a temporary break from its home at Tate Britain in the capital and move to the stunning Baltic on Tyneside. The exhibition of shortlisted works will open on October 21 next year, with the winning artist announced amid the glitz and glamour only artsanistas can produce at Baltic in December 2011.
By the way, Baltic has dropped the ‘Mill’ and the ‘The’ from its name. Now that’s cause for debate!
